He formed The Selznick Studio and returned to producing pictures with Since You Went Away (1944), which he also wrote. He followed that with the Hitchcock films Spellbound (1945) and The Paradine Case (1947), as well as Portrait of Jennie (1948) with Jennifer Jones.
Selznick Pictures was founded in April 1916 by Lewis J. Selznick following his loss of control at World Film. Selznick moved production from his former base at Fort Lee, New Jersey to California, and brought with him Clara Kimball Young who had been World Film's biggest star. [1]
The young Selznick moved to Hollywood in 1926, and, in the next 10 years at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Paramount, and RKO studios, he advanced from script reader and assistant story editor to producer. He opened his own studio, Selznick International Pictures, in 1935.
