Jul 24, 2001 · The story opens in the 1940s, just after the end of WWII. A soldier, whose identity is kept from use for reasons that will become obvious very soon, receives a "Dear John" letter from the girl that was supposed to be waiting for him at home. It seems that she has found another man.
