That was brilliant. Cosmic horror is successful when it makes you feel helpless and insignificant in the face of uncaring and unsettling truths. But the doctor's (in The Void) motivation for calling and becoming one of these otherworldly beings -- to cheat death -- just felt... disappointing. A little empty.
In short, "The Void", is well worth a watch. If the trailer interested you, the movie will absolutely deliver. In a recent rash of indie horror films, "The Void" stands out for several reasons. In many of the recent indie horror films, there is usually something glaring that needs to be overlooked in order to make the film enjoyable.
The second time I watched it with a friend and I felt like the film was a metaphor for the void left inside when a couple suffers a miscarriage. The doctor is also motivated by the grief from his daughter who passed away.

Anything’s worth the watch if you’re interested! I wasn’t a big fan, just not really my style or what I want from a movie, but it’s unique and an experience if anything. I think it’s worth a watch if only to introduce you to an alternative way of film making.
