   May 21, 2024 · Our 4th visit to Ambar. Still a really good holiday and resort and we still love it there. But the same issues exist, rooms feel ok, but a little tireder, the sunbed hoggers still have free rein and they continue to trim some of the extras you used to get. The restaurants still provide a good experience - each with their pros and cons.

   Ambar is right next to the beach and is adults only resort, which is nice for a romantic getaway. If you stay at other resort in the complex (with exception of Esmeralda), you will have a bit of a walk to get to the beach. Although, there is very frequent and convenient inter-resort transportation. But, definitely better to stay next to the beach.

   Is the AmBAR a one big resort?

   • The Ambar is one of many resorts in One BIG resort. I was looking at the various resorts and their ratings on Trip Advisor and on Bahia website. The impression I had was that each resort is separate. After my trip I realized that this in fact is not the case at all.

   Is Ambar Beach a good place to stay?

   • The beach was amazing and much closer in the Ambar section. It was low season so chairs were not really and issue in the adults only side the other side if you wanted to be close to the ocean you had to be out fairly early and if you wanted a shady spot by the pool it was the same thing.

   What was Ambar like at Bahia resort?

   • Ambar is the adults only section of the Bahia resort, there was more entertainment, casino, disco and shops at the Tropicana Theatre and Pueblo Principe at the main section or front of the resort. Ambar had nightly entertainment in the lobby in the evenings usually ending about 10:30-11:00PM.

   Is Ambar 1 a good hotel?

   • Rooms are big and have no ocean view which was a bummer. We walked around the entire property every morning which was great start to each day. The pool at Ambar 1 is busy and entertaining. Beach is great and ocean is amazing, clean and picturesque. You do have to rush in the morning to get a chair.

   Even though long white sand, good for walking, the main beach by the Ambar is eroded and continues to. Water was rough on several days. Nice walk down the beach, right of resort when facing the sea, there is a nice little market where you can buy souvenirs. Highly recommend this resort if you are looking for romantic getaway with excellent food.
