- Eligibility
Application Process. The JET Programme application period opens once a year for approximately 2 months in the fall (usually September to mid November). The application process is managed by the National JET Desk at the Embassy of Japan in Canada (in Ottawa). All applications must be submitted during this time through the Online Application Portal.
According to the NY Embassy the JET Program will open applications end if September or early October! That's a relief. I'm also in NY so it's good to hear things are still on track. I figured this was the case, but the last thing I wanted was to assemble my materials only to find out it was actually closed until 2022.
The last day to submit your application is today, November 14 at 8PM EST. Ensure you review you application before you submit! The JET Portal will be closed after this date. Any further communication with the JET desk will be conducted through the email jet@jetprogramme.ca.

11. As a JET Programme participant, coverage by Japanese insurance policies is required, regardless of insurance coverage already in place in Canada. Enrollment in the National Health Insurance System and Pension Insurance is mandatory. As well, a JET Programme Accident Insurance Policy will be provided by the Contracting Organization.
