Perm (Russian: Пермь, IPA: ⓘ; Komi-Permyak: Перем; Komi: Перым), previously known as Yagoshikha (Ягошиха; 1723–1781) and Molotov (Молотов; 1940–1957), is the administrative centre of Perm Krai in the European part of Russia.

Perm is a city located on the territory adjacent to the western slope of the Urals in the east of the European part of Russia, the administrative center of Perm Krai, a transport hub on the Trans-Siberian Railway. It is a large diversified industrial, scientific, cultural, and logistics center of the Urals.
Perm is a large industrial city on the Kama river banks, at the western foothills of the Ural Mountain range. With a population of approximately 1 million people, Perm is the most populous city and the administrative capital of Perm Krai. Its name is derived from the same place as the "Permian" period, meaning "Far-away Land".
