If you start spending more time in the USA than outside it then the border guards may start suspecting that you are planning to make (or already have made) the USA your primary residence. And the burden of proof is on the traveller, not the border guard.

Sep 20, 2011 · I traveled with my minor son this year. His visa expiry date is 16/07/2016. We entered the USA on 25th April 2016 and came back to India on the 6th of June 2016. So I don't think its true that you cannot travel before six month or three month of expiry of passport.

In fact this time the immigration procdure was much less thorough investigation than a previous time when I entered USA from Canada by bus long ago (early nineties).
