  2. May 16, 2020 · Widely considered to be the outdoor adventure capital of the world, the number of amazing outdoor adventure activities available to travelers in the area is simply mind-boggling. Because Queenstown is located right in the middle of the breathtaking Southern Alps, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that many of these activities center around the mountains.

    • Learn How To Ski. One of the first things you probably think about when it comes to winter activities in the mountains is skiing! I learned to ski only a few years ago in Austria and we’re going back again next year and I love it!
    • Learn How To Snowboard. Snowboarding is another obvious thing to learn when in the snowy mountains, and I had some lessons in Canada a couple of years ago.
    • Go Ice-skating. One thing we did learn from a small age in The Netherlands, was ice-skating and it’s still one of my favourite winter sports! From figure skating to ice hockey and long-distance skating, there is a lot your can experience… you just have to make sure you’ll find your balance first!
    • Take A Scenic Gondola Ride. You don’t have to go skiing or snowboarding to be able to enjoy the view from the slopes. Simply get into the gondola and be amazed from the views you’ll see from high above.
    • Explore Maligne Canyon. The deepest canyon in the Rockies with a depth of more than 165 feet at certain points, Jasper National Park's Maligne Canyon offers endless exploration.

    • Try a whirlpool bath in a white-water raft. If you do just one activity in the mountains with family or friends, it has to be rafting. In a large inflatable raft, follow the course of the river, either peacefully or at a more exciting pace depending on the route you choose.
    • Stay in shape with mountain biking. We’re all familiar with the wealth of gourmet delights in the mountains: cheese, cured meats, blueberry tarts…and the best way to tuck in guilt-free is to get moving.
    • Take it easy on a stand-up paddle board. Imagine the sound of gently lapping water, a clear pool beneath your feet, surrounded by majestic mountains and a sense of perfect calm: that’s the mountain stand-up paddle boarding effect.
