Nov 28, 2019 · The verb (apprehend) I most closely associate with “arrest.” Most any time that you hear it is it is meaning arrest, like “The cops apprehended the suspect.” Now, as an adjective/adverb (apprehensive(ly)), it kind of means anxious/nervous but implying an err of caution (cautious).
