State Collegeis a boroughand home rule municipalityin Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is a college town, dominated economically, culturally, and demographically by the presence of the University Parkcampus of The Pennsylvania State University. State College is the largest designated borough in Pennsylvania.[4]
The school was renamed the Agriculture College of Pennsylvania in 1862 and was designated the commonwealth’s land-grant college the next year. In 1874 the name was changed to Pennsylvania State College. It became Pennsylvania State University in 1953. The branch campus in Erie was founded in 1948, the Harrisburg branch in 1966.
