    Franklin Kettle (born 1890 or 1891), commonly known as "Pa" and also known as "P.A. Kettle", is the patriarch and head of the Kettle family and the husband of Ma Kettle.

    Pa was born in 1890 or 1891, in the Ozark village of Mournful Hollow, Arkansas, to Grandma and Grandpa Kettle. According to his younger brother, Pa resembles his deceased father.

    Pa almost went to Paris, France when he enlisted in the Armed Forces during the first World War. However, he never got the chance to visit Paris since they told him that he wouldn't go "until they scraped the bottom of the barrel."

    He has two known siblings: an unnamed sister from Portland, and a younger brother named "Sedge" who lives in the Ozarks. Other relatives include his cousin Rodney Kettle, a Hawaii-based entrepreneur, and a nephew in the Armed Forces who was present during the "atomic bomb test in the Pacific."

    Pa married Phoebe in 1925. They had the following children:
