Oct 31, 2009 · Another of Tasca’s unique talents was producing positive results out of negative events. “Bill Lawton broke a Hurst shifter once on the 3rd to 4th gear shift,” Tasca remembered. “Even though he won the race because he was so far ahead, George Hurst was furious, but I told George to calm down because we could turn this into a good thing.

Tasca is the birthplace of historic muscle cars such as the Ford Cobra Jet, Thunderbolt, Tasca Street Boss, and Mystery race cars. Starting in the 1960’s, the Tasca Racing team competed successfully for over a decade on the NHRA circuit, winning the prestigious Winter Nationals in Pomona, California and the Super Stock Nationals in 1965 with Hall of Fame driver Bill Lawton.

Sep 9, 2010 · As a tribute to Bob Sr, the 2008 car features graphics from the original race team complete with Bill Lawton’s name on the door. Bill Lawton was the original “hotshoe” at Tasca Ford in the 1960’s and added to the legend of the Cobra Jet in addition to other famous racers like Gas Rhonda, Al Joniec and Hubert Platt.
