Like Grayson's trauma is addressed in TFG I think. Jameson also needed something like that. I honestly cannot choose between the two brothers but I'd say that Avery and Jameson are better suited for each other, Avery and Grayson are not. Which also brings on to the next thing: give Grayson a happy ending!! Please!!
the whole grayson and avery thing has always kinda bothered me because in my opinion they really don’t have much chemistry. jameson and avery are much better suited for each other. I wish we had more moments with them that weren’t jameson and her having trust issues because of grayson or with a bunch of other people around.
I think the plot of this book is good enough for me to keep reading. But right now Avery/ Jameson felt more like a fling to me. I honestly think she made a mistake moving forward with the relationship. I also have a feeling that character development isn't the author's strong suit since basically any other relationship felt forced as well.

Feb 11, 2023 · Other than that all I’ll say is that I still really love Avery and Jameson and how they challenge each other and I still adore Xander (perhaps even more so in this novel than the first two). Avery by herself is also still a strong protagonist. She’s incredibly loving and thoughtful but also wickedly intelligent.

As they all grow closer to each other, they solve more puzzles that the old man left behind, eventually discovering that Harry, the homeless man that Avery used to play chess with, is the long lost (presumed dead) son of Tobias Hawthorne, Toby Hawthorne.
