  1. There is one feature still missing from the 50-watt breed of Katana amp, however, and that’s an effects loop. The MkII did add a power-amp input, AKA an effects return, but no corresponding effects send. Presumably, Boss’ logic is that if you’re purchasing this kind of amp your effects setup isn’t complicated enough to warrant a loop ...

  2. May 29, 2019 · That said, what i dont like about them is the dynamics, or should i say LACK of. the touch sensitivity is about 1/2 to 1/3 as good as my fender mustang which is why the katana is going ad the GT stays. The kat's overall tone however is more real (as in tube) sounding. But i dislike the TYE of tone and much prefer the gT's.

  3. Aug 15, 2020 · Different strokes. After extensively demoing the sneaky amps i have come to the conclusion that the stock katana amps are better. If you want a great fendery clean tone from the stock clean model goose the gain above noon and turn the mids down to 9-10:00. The sneaky fenders are WAY too scooped and hollow sounding.

  4. The Katana Mini is not in the same ballpark of the "real" Katana amps. It's just a travel/practice amp with a small speaker and limited sounds. It sounds really good being that small, even for higher gain tones, but it can't compete. I know because I have one and also a Katana 100 MkI and a Katana 100 MkII.

The Katana 100 MKII builds on the original amps legacy and takes it to a whole new level.

  8. Sep 17, 2023 · The Boss Katana 50 retails for around $250 new in most places, and around $150-200 used. All in all, I don’t see anything bad about this combo. It’s affordable, it sounds good, and it’s got lots of features. Everytime someone asks me what the best affordable guitar amplifier is, I always respond with the Katana.
