Whether or not someone develops dementia is due to a complex combination of lots of factors including our age, genes, lifestyle and environment. However research suggests that some ethnic groups may be at higher risk of developing dementia.
We will then explore some potential explanations for ethnic differences in rates of AD and dementia: (1) statistical limitations, (2) bias in measurement of cognitive functioning, (3) genetic factors, (4) nongenetic medical risk factors, and (5) social factors.
