Nov 6, 2020 · It was found that boarding had no significant effect on the mental health of rural primary school students, but the tendency of loneliness after boarding increased. There were significant differences in the mental health of students between grades.

The HBSC survey findings and the students at the youth engagement workshop confirmed several observations surrounding school experiences and measures of mental health. Certainly, young people recognised the importance of school and the impact it has on their lives.
Boarding school participants reported more discrimination, violence, unhealthier lifestyle behavior (smoking), less education and household income compared to non-boarding participants.
