To its credit, 2019 does employ practical effects in spots, and they're consistently good. But CGI gore and monsters rarely work that well, even when the budget is massive.

The original’s ending is more haunting and emotional than the new film’s crazy ending. I like both movies, but I’d watch the 1989 film over the 2019 one any time.
