Existing Salmon Futures denominated in NOK and based on the Fish Pool Index have been traded as cleared futures since 2007 on the Fish Pool regulated market, which Euronext acquired through Euronext Oslo Børs. The current spot price index, Nasdaq Salmon Index, will be replaced by the Sitagri Salmon Index (SISALMONI) from week 32 – 2024.
On Dec 31 st 2023 the Open interest in salmon futures listed at Fish Pool was 27 578 tons held by end-users. Please note that this Open Interest differs from the Open Interest found on the Nasdaq clearing Website as the Clearinghouse open interest.
Trading of the NOK-denominated Salmon Futures on Fish Pool, and their clearing at Nasdaq, will continue until the end of December 2024 or until all positions for the 2024 contracts have been closed. Neither Fish Pool nor Nasdaq Clearing will open for trading 2025 contracts in NOK.
