Ariano Irpino (until 1930 Ariano di Puglia), or simply Ariano, is a comune (municipality) in the province of Avellino, in the Italian region of Campania. With a territory of 186.74 square kilometres (72.10 sq mi) and a population of 22,535 (2017), it is one of the largest settlements in the Irpinia historical district and the modern province.

Ariano Irpino lies upon the Irpinian Apennines and is almost centred between the Adriatic Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its population is roughly 22,500 (2017) and its elevation is 788 metres (2,585 ft) above sea level, which brings the town a mild climate in summer and some snow in winter.
The town of Ariano Irpino is located on the northern side of the Ufita Valley, 601 metres above sea level and 76 km from Avellino. With its 22,004 inhabitants and its 100.88 sq km, it is the second most populous municipality in the province of Avellino, as well as the largest by area.
