Ubuntu has the games app which can run most roms. Retroarch is also a good option and can run on multiple different OS. It's also fairly easy to run retropi setup on Ubuntu. Try out Lakka on the VCS. You can run it right off a thumb drive. I will be giving it a go when my VCS finally makes it to me.
