For example, I play on both PC and PS5, and my character model, inventory, garage, and funds all transfer across between one and the other. Similar to other games from say, Ubisoft that use Uplay, or EA that use Origin. If you buy it retail, outside of Steam, it only has the Social Club activation, you cannot activate it on Steam.
