- Authorization. Fireworks manufactured, transported, bought, sold or used in Canada, or imported into Canada, must be authorized by Natural Resources Canada.
- Manufacturing. To manufacture fireworks in Canada (including assembly and packaging), you must have a licence or certificate to manufacture explosives.
- Importing, exporting and transporting. To import fireworks into Canada, or to export them from Canada to another country, you need an import or export permit.
- Buying, selling, and using. To buy, sell and use fireworks, you must meet requirements to store fireworks safely and securely. In some cases, you may need an explosives licence to store large quantities of fireworks.

Fireworks should be handled and supervised by adults 18 years of age or older. Children and those under 18 years old are not permitted to discharge fireworks. Always read and follow the directions on the manufacturer’s label for the fireworks you purchase.
Fireworks are only permitted on your private property until 11 p.m. on Victoria Day and Canada Day. A permit is required to set off fireworks on all other days. To request a permit, contact tfs_events@toronto.ca or 416-338-5340.
