Jun 20, 2012 · Queries have limited support in Explorer Online. I believe they only can be configured against layers pointing to services. You can't query at all in ArcGIS.com map viewer. Thanks, Mike
How can I formulate a query to a REST service, passing in my point or line, and asking if that point is within the layer or not? I think I need to pass in info to describe my input point or line, and ask the feature service to do a 'Within' or 'Intercepts' query.
Jan 1, 2012 · The query operation is performed on a feature service layer resource. The result of this operation is either a feature set or an array of feature IDs (if return Ids Only is set to true ) and/or a result extent (if return Extent Only is set to true ).
Standalone table. The Query widget serves as a query builder during configuration, allowing you to define the query by specifying source data and filters, and displaying fields in query results. Each query works with a single layer. However, you can define multiple queries for a single app, and data layers can be from multiple sources.
To access features in a feature layer, you need to use the feature servicequery operation. To do so, you can use ArcGIS Maps SDKs, open source libraries, scripting APIs, or the REST API to make a SQL and/or spatial query to a feature service. To make the request, you will need the service URL or item ID.
A query can be configured with or without a map. To display the features returned from a query in a Map widget, you can either set an action to have them automatically show or use a data action that allows the user to click a button.
