Jul 12, 2016 · Autism can be diagnosed in individuals both with and without a learning disability. It is not uncommon for individuals with a learning disability to have difficulties in the areas typically associated with autism, making diagnosis in the learning disability population more complex.
Autism may not always be readily identified in children and adults, especially if the symptoms are subtle or if the individual has additional disabilities or health issues. Additional factors, such as the presence of conditions like apraxia, can make autism more difficult to detect.
