Create a family group to share YouTube TV—and other Google apps and services—with up to 5 other members.
• If you've purchased a YouTube TV membership, you can create a family group. A family group lets you share your membership with up to 5 members at no extra cost. When you create a family group, you become the family manager.
• As the family manager:
• You can invite family members (13 or older) to join your family group.
• If you purchase extra subscriptions and packages, family members can view these add-ons from their accounts.
• As a family group member:
• You can build your own personal library of content in YouTube TV. Your viewing preferences and DVR are your own—we won't share your library or watch history with your family group.
As the family manager, you're the only person who can buy and make membership decisions in YouTube TV. You'll also set the home location and can invite or remove family members from your family group.
To sign up and create a family group:
1. Sign in to YouTube TV.
2. Select your profile picture Settings Family sharing .
3. Select Manage.
4. Create a Google family group.
Family manager requirements
To sign up for a family group, you must:
• Be 18 or older and have a Google Account
• Live in the United States
• Not be part of another family group
• Not sign up with a G Suite account
When you join a family, your family members may see your name, photo, and email address.
If you're the family manager, you can invite up to 5 members to your family group. New family members must be 13 or older, have a Google Account, and live in the same household as you. If someone leaves your family group or your invitation expires, you can send more invitations. If you have any pending invitations, you can cancel them to invite someone else.
To add family members:
1. Sign in to YouTube TV.
2. Select your profile picture Settings Family sharing .
3. Select Manage.
4. Enter the email address or phone number of the person that you want to invite.
If you're the family manager, you can remove members from your family group at any time.
When you remove someone from your family group, the person you've removed will:
• Lose access to YouTube TV.
• Get an email letting them know they've been removed. Other family group members will also get an email notification.
To remove someone from your family group:
1. Sign in to YouTube TV.
To delete a family group:
1. Sign in to YouTube TV.
2. Select your profile picture Settings Family sharing .
3. Next to “Family Sharing,” select Manage and you will be redirected to g.co/YourFamily
4. In the top left corner, select Menu .
5. Select Delete your family group.
If the family manager with a YouTube TV membership has invited you to join the family group, you'll get an email invitation. Follow the instructions in the invitation to join the family group.
The fine print:
• To join a family group, you must be 13 or older, and have a Google Account.
• You can access your own library, recordings, and personalized recommendations. Your viewing preferences are your own—we won't share your library or watch history across accounts.
• You can only be part of one family group at a time. If you’re invited to a different family group (YouTube TV or another Google product), you’ll have to leave your family group to change families.
• Google Apps for Business (G Suite) accounts are not eligible for family groups.
Location requirements work the same if you're sharing your YouTube TV membership with a family group. The family manager sets the home area, and each family member must primarily live in the same household.
Family group members need to periodically use YouTube TV in your home location to keep access. Otherwise, the family manager will have to change the home location. If the family manager can't change the home location, family group members must get an individual membership.
