Random objects in the prison (lockers, toilets, tables, etc) can be searched. Most of the time you get nothing, but if you're lucky you can find a weapon. If you're really lucky, you'll get a mechanical part that lets you escape throug the vent. Once you leave the prison, you can head to the city to commit crimes and get gold.

You can count on any first-party game (Halo, Gears, now all the Bethesda stuff, etc.) staying forever. Third-party games are on a case-by-case basis. I've seen some last only a month, others have been on there forever. Haven't had anything I was in the middle of leave so far. I'd just keep an eye on the "leaving soon" section.
