  2. Sep 30, 2024 · She believes Eileen could be the Half-Blood Prince, and if not, it could be someone in her family. This means Prince is a family name rather than a title, which is what the trio first thought. Hermione is usually right. After Snape claims the name, Hermione does her research and learns that Eileen Prince is Snape’s mother.

  3. I took it to mean that she could have been right on the idea that the half blood prince didn't necessarily have to be male. Any halfblood in the prince family could have claimed the moniker 'the halfblood Prince'. Ron and Harry's dismissive attitudes when she said the owner may not be male just pissed her off lol.

    Early life

Eileen was born into the wizarding Prince family in Great Britain, likely around 1930. She likely began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry around 1941. After graduating, Eileen met the Muggle Tobias Snape and married him. They moved into a terraced house in Cokeworth on a street called Spinner's End. It was close to the mill and near a nasty-smelling, polluted river. On 9 January 1960, she gave birth to a son, Severus Snape. Severus's childhood was plagued by the tumultuous, explosive atmosphere in the home, with his parents often fighting.Tobias would shout at Eileen and may have been physically abusive as well. The couple either neglected...

  4. May 23, 2021 · Notes. One can only conclude that Eileen's half-magical marriage was a failure, and this unfortunately made her son's homelife miserable. Yet we know that Snape still loved his mother, using her maiden name to form a clever nickname and persona for himself as "The Half-Blood Prince," a boy-genius who revised a copy of Advanced Potion-Making (HBP9, HBP28).
