- Build a wall, and make Mexico pay for it. The U.S.- Mexico border spans approximately 2,000 miles, and about a third of it already had barriers erected by the U.S government over the past few decades.
- Repeal Obamacare. The promise to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, the sweeping health insurance law also known as Obamacare, regularly drew roars of approval at Trump campaign rallies.
- Bring back manufacturing. Despite Trump's aggressive pro-business agenda, the results on his watch were mediocre for the manufacturing sector, even before the coronavirus pandemic drove the U.S. economy into its first recession in a decade.
- Grow the economy by 4% a year. The economy didn't hit an annual 4% increase in 2017, 2018, or 2019, the three years under Trump for which data is available.

- Immigration. "I will build a great, great wall on our southern border and I'll have Mexico pay for that wall," Trump said during his presidential announcement in June 2015.
- Health Care. "We get rid of Obamacare and we have a great life all together," Trump said during a Republican Party debate in September 2015. Despite controlling both the House of Representatives and the Senate for the first two years of Trump's presidency, Republicans were unable to repeal or replace the Affordable Care Act.
- Tax Cuts. "It's going to cost me a fortune, which is actually true," Trump told reporters in September 2015 as he promised a historic tax cut rate. Trump fulfilled this campaign promise one year into office.
- Supreme Court and Federal Judiciary. "I am looking for judges and have actually picked 20 of them.... They'll respect the Second Amendment and what it stands for and what it represents," Trump said at a debate in October 2016 when asked about replacing Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

- Build a wall’ — and make Mexico pay for it. Trump announced his candidacy with the promise "to build a great, great wall on our southern border" and "have Mexico pay for that wall," and has repeated the call with conviction and consistency.
- Temporarily ban Muslims from entering the United States. Following the December 2015 shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., Trump called for "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on."
- Bring manufacturing (jobs) back’ Trump has said he will revitalize manufacturing in various iterations (i.e. "I’m going to be the greatest jobs president God ever created") and laid out how in his June 28 speech on the economy.
- Impose tariffs on goods made in China and Mexico. Warren Maruyama, a former general counsel to the U.S. Trade Representative under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, told us President Trump would have the authority under a variety of trade statutes to impose higher tariffs, but added "it would lead to a trade war and cost hundreds and thousands of jobs."
