FirstBank Stadium (formerly Dudley Field and Vanderbilt Stadium) is a football stadium located in Nashville, Tennessee. Completed in 1922 as the first stadium in the South to be used exclusively for college football, it is the home of the Vanderbilt University football team. [ 4 ]
From Vanderbilt’s pigskin inception in 1892 until 1922, the Commodores competed at Old Dudley Field. After the new stadium was built, Old Dudley was rechristened Curry Field, in honor of Irby (Rabbit) Curry, a standout football player from 1914-16. Dudley Field seated 20,000 spectators in 1922, but grew in fits and spurts to host 34,000 by 1960.

Vanderbilt Stadium (then known as Dudley Field) opened on Oct. 14, 1922, when Vanderbilt hosted Michigan. Commodore coach Dan McGugin played at Michigan and was the brother-in-law of Wolverines coach Fielding Yost. The Commodores, led by team captain and halfback Jess Neely, battled heavily favored Michigan to a 0-0 tie.
