    • Kualoa Ranch. The vast landscape of Kualoa Ranch, from Ka‘a‘awa Valley to Hakipu‘u Valley, was used as a number of locations throughout filming. The golf course, a few Dharma stations (The Arrow and The Tempest), the security fence and some streams throughout the series were all filmed there.
    • Valley of the Temples. The Byodo-In Temple, a replica of a temple in Kyoto, Japan, is a Buddhist temple just off Kahekili Highway in Kāneʻohe. You may recognize it as the site of Jin and Sun’s wedding.
    • Ala Wai Yacht Harbor. You may recognize the harbor behind Desmond and Penny in their iconic photo, but did you know it’s the same harbor Boone and Shannon have a fight at in Australia?
    • Mākua Beach. Things started to get weird (OK, more weird) when a giant Egyptian statue was seen at Mākua Beach. This was where Ben killed Jacob. The base of the statue was constructed and taken down each day of filming, but that doesn’t explain how no one else on the show ever managed to come across it, whether as a full statue or just a foot.
    • The Lost Beach from The First Two Seasons.
    • The Others’ Camp
    • The Lost Beach from Season 3 onwards.

LOST was actually filmed on two different beaches throughout the show on opposite sides of the island. The first beach used for filming is Mokule’ia Beach, which was used for the plane crash in the pilot episode.

This was by far the most exciting part of the tour for me. The others’ camp in LOST is better known as the YMCA Camp Erdman, and it’s super-accessible and easy to find. We’d read online before that this was private property and you weren’t allowed to just wander around taking photos. Like that was going to stop us! We arrived and noted the security...

We visited the main beach on Christmas Day, so no filming was taking place and most of the set had been packed away for the holidays which was a shame. There was a friendly security guard who pointed who lived in which tents, and showed us some filming spots such as Eko’s church and the graves of some of the characters. Other filming sites. Whilst ...

  1. May 10, 2023 · Oahu, Hawaii. The show’s first episode sets the scene for the series, and the plane crash and subsequent fallout were all filmed on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Most of the island scenes of this episode were filmed on Mokuke’ia Beach. The scenic paradise-like island lies on Oahu’s Northern shore. The early cave scenes were filmed in an ...

    • Papailoa Beach. After leaving the site of the plane crash, the islanders set up a beach camp, erecting makeshift shelters using whatever supplies they have been able to scavenge from the wreckage.
    • Camp Erdman. After discovering that the survivors we’d been rooting for weren’t alone on the island, we were introduced to the Others’ Camp. In season 3 it is home to Ben and his followers, in season 5 (and in the dated film reels found in the hatch) it is the headquarters of the Dharma Initiative and home to the workers in the 1970s, including Kate and Sawyer when they travel back in time.
    • Kualoa Ranch and the Ka’a’awa Valley. Home to so many iconic locations, not just in Lost, but a multitude of other films and television series have been filmed in the Ka’a’awa Valley too.
    • The Banyan Tree. Situated in Kawela Bay (Kahuku), the massive banyan tree is truly breathtaking to behold. It provided the stage for one of the show’s early shockers, with the dark jungle backdrop providing the perfect place for the mysterious Ethan to break our hearts by trying to dispose of lovable rogue Charlie.
    • Crash Site of Oceanic Flight 815. When we first encountered our group of 48 crash survivors, they are gathered around the wreckage of Oceanic Flight 815 which rests on the beach of an island somewhere between Sydney, Australia, and Los Angeles, California.
    • Exploring the Valley of Lost. Numerous scenes in Lost were filmed in the Ka'a'awa Valley on Oahu's Windward Coast. This is also the location where in Episode 3, Sayid, Charlie, Kate, Shannon, Boone, and Sawyer make camp for the night when they return from hearing the taped broadcast of the French woman.
    • Home of the Monster. While Jack, Kate, and Charlie explore the valley, back on the beach the survivor's huddle under the plane wreckage in a heavy rainstorm.
    • Fleeing in the Rainforest. Having found the plane's cockpit, Jack, Kate, and Charlie watched as the pilot is sucked from the plane by the "monster," Jack, Kate, and Charlie flee into the jungle as they try to make their way back to the beach.
  2. May 19, 2011 · Driving back down the Windward Coast was pretty much a LOST geek’s dream. There was Kualoa Ranch in Ka’a’awa Valley, which was the backdrop for many of the valley scenes, like when Hurley builds the golf course. If you’re not a LOST fan, this might look familiar from Jurassic Park, Mighty Joe Young or a myriad of other movies filmed here.
