Oct 5, 2023 · Will the newer Sega Genesis 6-button controllers made by Retro-Bit work with the light sixer version of the 2600, and if so, will they work with all games from all manufacturers? Any other info or experience you may have on this topic would be welcome.
Mar 2, 2021 · I currently have an Atari Flashback 2. The port are compatible with the old Atari standard. A Genesis gamepad works just fine with this system (and a real Atari 2600), but 8BitDo's Bluetooth receiver for the Genesis port doesn't power up in the Flashback. No LED light comes on.
Modern controller mechanisms have become steadily more complex, but at the cost of becoming specific to the systems they match. So yeah, Sega pads worked on C-64s, Vic 20s, Ataris of various vintages, and even on the older Sega unit (Master system?).
Jan 21, 2024 · Atari wired it so that both buttons activate the 2600 button signal, but also send a separate signal that a 7800 can use to distinguish the buttons from each other. With a Sega controller, only 1 of the buttons will be seen by an Atari.
