  1. Dec 15, 2014 · 1. "Jingle Bells". It may be the cheery, #1 kids' song at Christmas, but it has nothing to do with the season. Instead, the 1857 ditty by James Lord Pierpont, written for a Thanksgiving program in Savannah, Georgia, is about dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh and laughing all the way. Period.

  2. Dec 24, 2018 · 7) Winter Wonderland (1934) Not only is this song not about Christmas, it’s not even really about snow, in my opinion. It’s about being giddy in love, and the world seeming enchanted as a result. Which is sweet – I know the feeling of being all in a tizzy about a guy (in the winter), and it does feel magical.

  3. Dec 17, 2021 · The Bangles – Hazy Shade of Winter. The Bangles’ cover of Simon and Garfunkel song “Hazy Shade of Winter” features a sleighbell-like tambourine, mentions of snow and the Salvation Army, and harmonies fit for a church choir. And the iconic riff is a frantic accompaniment to last-minute Christmas Eve shopping.
