Both personality traits identified with a heritable component in our analysis of common variants, openness and neuroticism, were found to have a large genetic despite a low phenotypic correlation, suggesting that at least some of the genetic basis of the different personality traits may be shared across traits.

Abstract. In recent years, substantial effort has gone into disentangling the genetic contribution to individual differences in behaviour (such as personality and temperament traits). Heritability estimates from twin and family studies, and more recently using whole genome approaches, suggest a substantial genetic component to these traits.
In this scenario, parenting is a nonshared environmental phenomenon, encompassed by the E component -- a component of variation that, for personality, is as large as the A component (Krueger & Johnson, in press). Unfortunately, attempts to link the E variance in personality with specific measured psychological variables have not borne much fruit.
Jul 1, 2015 · The bivariate analyses showed that the variance explained by common variants entirely overlapped between neuroticism and openness (rG=1.00, P <0.001), despite low phenotypic correlation (r=-0.09 ...
Jun 12, 2024 · Heritability of cognitive/mind related traits; Heritability of personality related traits; Heritability of all traits in one chart; Note that here, we are looking at h^2, which represents the “narrow sense heritability”. It measures the proportion of phenotypic variance in a population that is attributable to additive genetic variance. This ...
Dec 20, 2017 · The correlation between trait EI and the GFP was so high (ρ = 0.88) in that meta-analysis that these two may be considered virtually identical constructs. The present study builds on these findings by examining whether the strong phenotypic correlation between the GFP and trait EI has a genetic component.

Apr 23, 2014 · We also find a low phenotypic association (mean r = .22) between the three dimensions of SWB and big-five personality traits despite substantial shared genetic etiology. In addition to non-trivial amounts of distinctive genetic and environmental variance and low phenotypic correlation, we point to limited investigation of reciprocal causation of SWB and personality.
