According to the California State Park’s Website, more than 70 different state parks offer several hundred miles of trails that are open to horses. Overnight horse camping facilities are available at 17 state parks across the state at locations ranging from windswept beaches and shady redwoods to the colorful desert.
Pricing and Reservations. Pricing: $21.00 per site, per night. Each site allows a maximum of 8 people and 2 horses. Sites can usually accommodate 2 vehicles with trailers, 1 vehicle with a trailer and 1 self-contained RV, or 3 vehicles maximum. Although your site may hold 3 vehicles, your reservation only covers 1 vehicle.
Horse Camp fees are $25 per night which includes 1 vehicle with trailer, 2 people and 2 horses. Each additional horse is $5 per night. There is an additional $8 per vehicle/per night fee if you park at the Coe Ranch entrance. If you park at the Hunting Hollow entrance it is $6 per car/per night.
