I love apple fritters and will get one any time I see one. I am very picky to the point I make my own because I can't quite get the ones you are talking about. The closest are the ones from Lucky's Donuts on Main but they put bacon in them.
Cartem's indeed has really good apple fritters. I tried one at Breka and it's just too big and mainly about dough, at the same time Cartem's is chevy, you can fill apples and its much better. One more good option I have tried at Cream Pony in North Van.
