The GBD produces regular estimates of all‐cause mortality, deaths by cause, years of life lost due to premature mortality (YLLs), years lived with disability (YLDs), and disability‐adjusted life years (DALYs). The critical milestones for ongoing estimation include regular updates to the GBD estimates, referred to as the “GBD cycle.”

Nov 10, 2018 · GBD 2017 is based on a geographical hierarchy that includes 195 countries and territories grouped into 21 regions and seven GBD super-regions (appendix 1). Each year, GBD includes subnational analyses for a few new countries and continues to provide subnational estimates for countries that were added in previous cycles.
