Jul 1, 2023 · Lake James State Park is beautiful, as is the lake. Sadly, the lion's share of the beauty is reserved for personal watercraft and boats and largely inaccessible for swimmers. We drove 2 hours from Winston Salem because we heard the water was clean and clear and we desperately wanted to swim in a lake.
