Stella supports real Atari 2600 joysticks, paddles, driving controllers and trackballs (CX22/CX80 'Trak-Ball', Atari and Amiga mouse) using the Stelladaptor and 2600-daptor devices. Stella can use up to two adaptors; any extra ones are ignored.
Jan 9, 2012 · There are devices called Stelladaptor and 2600-daptor that allow Stella to work with real paddles, but it does so by having special code that recognizes these devices. I would guess similar code would be needed to work with a 'bliss-box'.

A partial list of features is: * DOS and Linux versions support real Atari 2600 paddles using a special PC game port adaptor. * Linux version uses the new 1.2.x Linux Joystick API.
The DOS and Linux versions of Stella support real Atari 2600 paddles using a special adaptor which connects to the PC game port. The adaptor requires the following parts: 1 DB15 male connector (joystick extension cable plugs into this)
The Stella core supports the following device type(s) in the controls menu, bolded device types are the default for the specified user(s): User 1 - 2 device types ¶ None - Doesn't disable input.
