Atari800 now includes Altirra BIOSes for all emulated systems: 400/800, XL/XE, and 5200; as well as Altirra BASIC. It is now possible to use the emulator without providing any ROM images.
The Altirra emulator for the Atari 400, 800 and XL computers runs just about every single piece of software written for them. Sep 29, 2020 · Edit: For Star Raiders I had to use the defprofile:800. It didn't work with the XL profile. Edit 2: You can remap the Atari console buttons within Altirra so you do not need to use AHK remapping. Edited February 15, 2021 by Headrush69
Aug 11, 2018 · The goal of this exercise is to install and try the Altirra 8-bit Atari emulator. You might also try Atari800. I have less experience with this one. Altirra was programmed by Avery Lee to emulate the Atari 400, 800, XL, and XE computers as well as the XEGS game system. It was first released in 2009 and has been consistently updated since.

Dec 15, 2011 · It is deep to the hardware and not for beginners but a very well made reference (as said in its title). The dma pattern in the graphics modes is presented very well. I im totally impressed of Altirra and the documentation. I first saw the values of the randomgenerator from 0 to $429 in that documentation.
