Apr 29, 2022 · A systematic search was conducted in April 2021 identifying seven peer-reviewed studies which included music-based interventions with at least one person with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Findings reveal the interventions varied in their frequency, duration and content.
One of the purposes of music therapy for students with disabilities is to provide the student with initial support using melodic and rhythmic strategies, followed by fading of musical cues to aid in generalization and transfer to other learning environments within the school setting.
