Pool B is played as a regional-style double-elimination bracket. Finally a standard elimination bracket is set with #1A vs. #1B, and #2A vs. #3A. The idea behind it is to give a more weight to the regular season and tough scheduling.
May 18, 2024 · The remaining four teams comprise Pool B. The first four days of the championship (May 21-24) features competition within the two groups of teams. Pool A competes in a round robin schedule while Pool B plays out a double-elimination bracket.
Pool B is double elimination, with one team emerging. The semifinals will be single elimination. The games will be May 25 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., with the championship on May 26 at 1 p.m.
The double elimination tournament is my favorite format, and along with single elimination is the most popular. To be eliminated from this type of tourney, a team or player must lose two times. There is a winner's bracket and a loser's bracket, everyone starts in the winner's bracket.
Then the last one standing in the pool B double elimination gets added to those three, and they do a single elimination semifinal and championship game.
