The prices consumers pay for gasoline and ultra low sulphur diesel are regulated. Regulations protect you from frequent price changes and help keep retailers open in rural and remote locations.
Nova Scotia also uses New York Harbour spot prices to set a benchmark price. Wholesale prices are set 6 cents a litre higher than the benchmark, and a transportation allowance is included in the price, ranging from 0.2 to 2.0 cents per litre, depending on the zone.
Jun 2, 2023 · The Province has changed its fuel pricing regulations to ensure Nova Scotia is complying with federal carbon pricing measures. Gas, diesel and home heating fuel costs will go up July 1 by about 14 to 17 cents a litre because of the federal fuel charge, also known as the carbon tax.
