Jan 23, 2024 · Hello everybody:) I was wanting to install Stella on my Windows laptop and I'm looking for some advice with getting joysticks and paddles that will work well with hopefully no lag. I'd prefer a joystick that looks like the traditional CX40 and CX30 paddles.
The 2600-daptor is a USB interface for connecting Atari 2600 Joystick, Driving, and Paddle controllers to your PC/Mac, Raspberry Pi, or game console that supports USB HID. No driver is needed as the 2600-daptor is recognized as a USB HID (Human Interface Device) joystick.
Stella supports real Atari 2600 joysticks, paddles, driving controllers and trackballs (CX22/CX80 'Trak-Ball', Atari and Amiga mouse) using the Stelladaptor and 2600-daptor devices. Stella can use up to two adaptors; any extra ones are ignored.
The 2600 PDL has a paddle scaling setting for using 2600 paddles in the MiSTer 7800/2600 core. However, I personally would use a SNAC when possible. As MiSTer is a hardware based emulator, using directly connected controllers makes the most sense.
