To me, this suggests that there is no policy on how points are distributed or taken. If this is the case, the point system is not as representative as it should be.

However the Ilvermorny houses are not (nor are they supposed to be) equivalent to Hogwarts and I hate when people try to make them so. If JK would have mmade 5 or 3 houses instead, then 99% of people wouldn't immediate try to say that each Ilvermorny house = a Hogwarts one because they aren't even close to the same.
