Add citations to your document. Click at the end of the sentence or phrase that you want to cite, and then on the References tab, in the Citations & Bibliography group, click Insert Citations. From the list of citations under Insert Citation, select the citation you want to use.
- Preparing to Cite Sources: Ask your teacher what style they prefer for citing sources. The most common choices are American Psychological Association (APA), Modern Language Association (MLA), Turabian and Chicago styles.
- Citing Sources While Writing: Type your information that you want to be sourced in your Word document. Click on the end of the sentence when you are ready to cite a source.
- Creating a Works Cited Page: Click the “Bibliography” button when you have listed all the sources and finished writing the paper. Choose between “Bibliography” and “Works Cited.” Your teacher should have specified the type of citation sheet that is required.
To add a citation to your document, first add the source you used. On the References tab, click the arrow next to Bibliography Style , and click the style that you want to use for the citation and source.
Create a bibliography, citations, and references. Put your cursor at the end of the text you want to cite. Go to References > Style, and choose a citation style. Select Insert Citation. Choose Add New Source and fill out the information about your source.
