If you haven't heard back from someone in a little while, they might just have their phone on airplane mode or do not disturb. But if you can't reach someone for an extended period of time, they may have your number blocked. And while it's not okay to contact someone who's blocked your number, there are ways to try and figure out whether they have,...
If you've used these methods and have enough evidence to be reasonably sure you've been blocked, it's not a great feeling. But you need to respect the privacy and wishes of whoever blocked you and let it go. It could end up being a fluke or a misunderstanding, so try not to take it too personally if you don't get an instant reply from someone.
What If It's an Android Phone?
Want to know if someone's blocked your number, but the person you're texting has an Android phone? Try calling. If it goes to voicemail after barely one ring, you may have been blocked. The message status method won't work, since that only shows up for messages sent between two iPhones.

- Check the bubble color in iMessage. Most people recognize the distinction between the green and blue bubbles in Messages. If your conversations with someone previously displayed blue bubbles and suddenly shifted to green, it could be a sign that they blocked you.
- Look at iMessage Delivery Status. Another way to see whether your message went through is to look underneath the last message you sent. If there’s a “Not Delivered” error under a blue bubble, you should first check your internet.
- Send an SMS. After seeing a green bubble instead of the usual blue bubble, the next step is to look at any error or notification. If you see a Sent as Text Message notification, it could be that you or your recipient have a poor internet connection or that iMessage is turned off on their device at the moment.
- Check for Read Receipts in iMessage. Read Receipts is an iMessage feature that lets you know whether the recipient has read your message. In addition to the Delivered status, you can see under a bubble to signify that your message was successfully sent to the recipient.

- Check the color of your texts. One way to get a sense of whether or not you've been blocked is to text the person. You can tell the difference between a regular SMS and an iMessage by looking at the message bubble – a green bubble means it's an SMS, while a blue bubble means it's an iMessage.
- Send them an iMessage. If the person you suspect has blocked you has an Apple device, you can try sending them a courteous iMessage. Whenever you send someone an iMessage, you'll see the delivery status right below it.
- Send them an SMS message. When you send them an SMS and you get the "Delivered" notification underneath it, you weren't blocked. If you get a notification like "Message Not Delivered" or you get no notification at all, that's a sign of a potential block.
- Give them a phone call. Next, you could try calling the person. If the call goes right to voicemail or rings once (or a half ring) then goes to voicemail, that's further evidence you may have been blocked.
Mar 13, 2024 · To determine if you're blocked on iMessage, check if your messages show a "Delivered" status. If it disappears, you may be blocked. Try calling the person; if the call goes straight to voicemail or disconnects, you might be blocked.
