Usually if a browser opens automatically it's with a particular site, due to a malware of some sort. Even if Opera isn't opening with a page loaded, I would check your machine to make sure that it isn't infected in some way.

It seems that opera creates a start up instruction in the start up folder. If I delete it then it is recreated the next time I open Opera.
