One of the signs that your passion for the Lord is turning cold is your laziness to pray. Passionate Christians value prayer and intercession so much because it is their way of talking to God. It is also their way of expressing their adoration and gratitude to Him. So, if you do not feel like talking to Him anymore, it is an alarming sign indeed.

It is the same way as studying God’s Word. If you are not interested in reading and meditating on the Bible anymore, it means you are slacking off from your commitment. The Scripture is your spiritual food, so it is necessary for your spirit to be healthy.

Hebrews 6 speaks “of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away” (Heb.
    • Mistake #2—Thinking that falling away is no big deal. The author asks us, “How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God” if he or she goes on “sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth” (Heb.
    • Mistake #3: Thinking there is another or better “Truth” than Christ. In contrast to God speaking in many ways and through many means (including angels) in the past, “in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son…[who] is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature…” (Heb.
