Blends can be made up of either two or three consonants. Both ‘st’ and ‘str’ are blends. Some blends come at the beginning of a word or syllable and are referred to as initial or beginning blends. For example, ‘gr’ like in grab and ‘tw’ like in twin are initial blends.
