Aug 15, 2017 · The thicker the oil you use the richer the mixture will be on acceleration. You should just unscrew the dashpot and fill the oil to within about 1/4" to the top. As you screw it down you may get some oil overflow. Thats ok. As its used excess will flow out the top vents if you still put too much in.

Carb Dashpot Level: The dashpot should be filled to such a level that the damper (the knob on top of the carb) meets resistance when its threads are about 1/4″ above the dashpot. If in doubt, fill to the top.
May 3, 2012 · To add oil, unscrew the center plug (usually black). That pulls the plunger out. Then add oil to the hole in the center down there. Triumph gives fancy precise instructions, but really, just pour oil in there until it's about 1/2" below the top of the center tube at the bottom of the bore.
